A Change to PASMA Mobile Access Tower Standards
17th November 2020
We have recently been notified on the changes coming into the mobile access tower industry for the BS EN1004 standard early in the new year.
The current standard allows us to understand what materials, dimensions, design loads, safety and performance requirements we should be conforming to; anyone designing, manufacturing, supplying, buying, hiring or using a mobile access tower should be conforming to this standard.
Managed and enforced by technical committees (TC's) and the CEN TC53 Working Group, we will expect to see a number of changes to the current standard.
What to Expect?
- Low-level towers brought into scope (towers with a working platform below 2.5 metres will now fall within the scope of BS EN1004
- Mobile access towers to become even safer (shorter distances, measures, secured platforms, wind guidance for designers and manufacturers)
- Product innovation (access from outside the tower, developments in AGR)
To find out more about when these changes will be coming into action, to be added to the updated document register or for more information on BS EN1004, visit the PASMA website here.
