Mentor and MP Futures discuss new apprenticeship trailblazer at annual British Precast exhibition
26th May 2017
Mentor training Solutions and MP Futures joined forces to present why it is crucial for employees and contractors to be following the British Precast competency framework in the workplace and expressed their commitment to supporting industry with apprenticeships to recoup the newly enforced apprenticeship levy.
Competency for Precast
The framework outlined by the British Precast sets the scene for how different levels of competency are required for various operational positions. This competence is demonstrated through the achievement of specialist vocational qualifications or equivalent, for the role being performed.
For any organisation to be able to recommend alternative routes to competence, a full criteria must be met that will ultimately result in a proven skilled workforce that ensures compliance and consistent repeatable performance over time.
Introducing Apprenticeship Levy
General Manager of MP Futures, Anthony Elgey introduced the key stages in developing the trailblazers that will allow the industry to demonstrate operational competence in line with the British Precast framework whilst offering the ability through the apprenticeship route to recoup the new apprenticeship levy recently enforced on many of the industry's employers.
Hefin Jones supported this, highlighting how employers can engage with MP Futures to develop trailblazer standards for specific job functions within the industry. Hefin went on to explain how employers can then engage Lead Provider, Mentor Training Solutions and build apprenticeship programmes and deliver robust and effective apprenticeships that ensure an effective and competent workplace.
